Description

In an F1 used to firing engineers for cause, to change team principals and to continuously move technicians, Mercedes is once again a pioneer of a new management method for those technical resources, those excellences that makes it a winning squad.
From the 1st of July - F1 technical director James Allison, in charge since 2017, will leave the office to Mike Elliot, a Mercedes F1 team member since 2012.

Ferrari expectations for Imola are quite promising. The traction and the rear-tyre degradation problems suffered in Bahrain, tend to fade away, if not disappear, on a flowing and ongoing layout such as the Santerno one, improving the race performance with used tyres. A second factor that plays in favour of the SF21 improvement is the time. The three week break has enabled the team to revise data and criticalities of the first GP and to study new corrective solutions suitable for the Imola track.

In the first GP in Bahrain Alpha Tauri with Tsunoda achieving ninth position on his F1 debut, has echoed the impressive Red Bull performance, fast and consistent since qualifying. The rules that still enable copy single-seaters advantaged the Faenza team with the Austrian squad technology making a giant leap in performances.

In the 18 inch tyre test in Bahrain Leclerc covered 87 laps with his Ferrari finishing the data gathering work essential for Pirelli.
The 2021 work program really started in Jerez de la Frontera last February using always the SF90 mule modified in suspensions and floor to recreate downforce values of the next seasons future wing cars.

The last seven years of Sebastian Vettel's career could be summed up in a single slogan: “Failed attempt at rebirth”. At least for now.
